TROY — Troy Police Department officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding an elderly couple found deceased in their home in the 1000 block of Maplecrest on Wednesday morning.
According to Troy Police Department Capt. Joe Long, officials located the bodies of Richard Graef, 91, and Lillian Graef, 94, inside their home after a caretaker stopped by to check on them around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Capt. Jeff Kunkleman confirmed the couple’s vehicle was running with the keys in the ignition with the garage door down at the time of the report.
Both subjects were located in the home deceased. Their bodies were released to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. No foul play is suspected, although the case is still under investigation, Kunkleman said.
The case is pending the coroner’s report, Kunkleman said.
The couple had reported minor medical issues weeks prior to the incident according to the caregiver’s report to police.
Police and fire department officials responded to the scene and reported carbon monoxide levels were at toxic levels.
“The meter was reading as high as it would go,” said Long, who assisted at the scene.
