MONROE TOWNSHIP — The Monroe Township Trustees renewed a contract with the Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance for 2017 at the board’s meeting on Feb. 6. This contract with the Alliance, which is the coordinating authority for the Dayton Regional Hazardous Material Response Team (HAZMAT), carries the same cost as last year’s contract, that being $1,320.96. The cost is based on township unincorporated population according to the 2010 census.
Also at this meeting, the township trustees approved a 2017 contract with GREENTECH Lawn and Irrigation to maintain lawn care spraying of Maple Hill Cemetery, and vegetation control for curbs and gutters and side ditches along township roads; and township bill payments totaling $53,290.90. The board also accepted all financial status reports for the end of January 2017 and the bank reconciliation report for Dec. 31, 2016 as provided by the township fiscal officer.
In announcements, the Monroe Township Water and Sewer District board will be meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. These monthly meetings are always open to the public and held in the Monroe Township meeting room at 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. It was also noted the water and sewer project for Country Estates East is set to begin Feb. 14 with an estimated completion by Aug. 31, 2017.
The Monroe Township Trustees also heard presentations about road asphalt rejuvenation sealant used by a Sidney company, and the 2017 Monroe Township Estimated Resources totaling $2,367,948.00. Other meeting discussions included a rehab of the township building rental space for the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce, and future advertising for spring and summer seasonal help.
The next Monroe Township Trustees meeting will shift to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 due to the second meeting of the month falling on the Monday holiday of President’s Day. All township offices and facilities will be closed on that Monday of Feb. 20 in observance of the federal holiday.
