Restaurant inspections


Restaurant inspections are performed in the county by Miami County Public Health, except in Piqua, which has its own health department. Miami County Public Health can be reached at (937) 573-3500, by email at [email protected] or on the website at www.miamicountyhealth.net. These inspection reports were provided by Miami County Public Health.

June 1

Igloo Drive Thru, 945 W. Main St., Tipp City — Facility not making ice anymore. Be sure to wash, rinse, sanitize office pot everyday. Discussed licensing with worker. Call Miami County Public Health if any other questions.

Tipp City Dairy Queen, 513 W. Main St., Tipp City — Remove baseboard damaged areas and replace with baseboard (tile base) properly. Replace any damaged gaskets on coolers or freezer doors. Replace properly to ensure temperature. Ensure all toppings are covered when not in use. Observed open topping containers/holders.

June 2

Milton Union Rec Concession, 760 Milton-Potsdam Road, West Milton — Ensure a person-in-charge per shift is certified in level one food safety onsite. Operation good at time of inspection.

Skippers, 101 N. Miami St., West Milton — Critical violation at time of inspection: observed cook wash hands in the three-tank sink. Always wash hands in the handsink to prevent contamination. The gasket on walk-in freezer is broken and needs repaired to ensure proper temperature. Observed dried food on can opener. Clean often to prevent any accumulation.

June 3

Dunaway’s Beef and Ale, 508 W. Main St., Troy — Critical violation at time of inspection: Observed growth inside the ice machine. Clean more often to limit growth. The pop dispenser at holders have growth and need cleaned more often. Observed the plastic ice cream scoop to be cracked in the ice bin. Do not use broken equipment. Critical violation at time of inspection: Observed a water leak under the dish machine. Please repair. Critical violation at time of inspection: observed a large number of gnats at the draft system and under the dishwasher. The dishwashing area needs to be cleaned of food debris. Tile needs to be repaired to prevent breeding areas for gnats. The breeding areas for the gnats must be taken care of to prevent more issues. Consult pest control. Critical violation at time of inspection: Observed chile at 135 degrees Fahrenheit and marinara at 90 degrees below 35 on steam table. Foods must be held at 135 degrees of greater to prevent growth.

Piqua Country Club, 9812 Country Club Road, Piqua — Follow-up for person-in-charge per shift has taken a level on certification. Food service has 30 days to complete certification.
