TROY — Kids say the darnedest things.

The 2015 Little Miss and Mr. Strawberry pageant was full of laughs, songs, and lots of sweet tidbits of information from the Troy Strawberry Festival’s smallest fans at the lower levee stage on Saturday.

Scarlette Williamson, 4, of West Milton was crowned Little Miss Strawberry Saturday afternoon. The daughter of Brandon and Kodi Williamson captured the judge’s hearts when emcee Sally Riechert asked if Scarlette’s puppy graduated from school just like she recently graduated from preschool.

“Dogs don’t graduate from school!” Williamson shared with the audience. Williamson was decked head-to-toe in her strawberry dress now capped off with her new crown.

Williamson said she liked her new sparkly crown and her trophy.

“I like this crown. It was fun to be on stage in my strawberry dress,” she shared.

The 2015 Little Mr. Strawberry was Devin Miller, 5, of Casstown. He is the son of Valerie and Robert Miller. Miller was a little more on the shy side when he was on stage, but said he had a great time participating in the contest.

“My favorite part was when they asked me questions and when I got this trophy,” Miller shared after he was named the winner of the contest.

Many of the contestants played up the “Bowling for Berries” theme bringing bowling bags filled with their favorite things from home and sporting bowling league shirts with their names and strawberries attached.

All 23 contestants received trophies for participating in the contest which was sponsored by Marsh Supermarkets.
