Potsdam, located near Laura,
Ludlow
Falls and West
Milton in southwestern Union
Township, was called "Georgetown" and "New
Lebanon" before residents settled on its current
name.
The
village's first plat was laid out in 1845. Potsdam,
with just 250 residents, is one of the smallest
villages in the County. Over the years the town has
had several blacksmiths, a buggy works, several
grocery stores and up until a few years ago, the
oldest operating barber shop in the state.
These days Potsdam is mostly just homes and four
different churches, and a park.
