They're still called "libraries," but the range of services they offer goes far beyond traditional book-lending.

Libraries in Miami County have lots of books, to be sure, but they also have videos, tapes, microfilm and a variety of other services. The Troy-Miami County Public Library even brings books to you with its Bookmobile.  

 

Bradford Public Library

Saturday - 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday closed.

Services: Books, video, DVD and audio cassettes, laminate, binding machine, ellison machine, inter-library loan, copy machine, Internet access, and fax machine.

Programs: summer reading program for children, a Preschool Story time on scheduled Tuesdays and a Teen Advisory Board (TAB) that meets monthly on the third Monday of each month from 8 pm til 9 pm, and occassionally scheduled family programming.

Programs: speaker's bureau run by Jim Oda, summer reading program, puppet theaters, story hours.

 

J.R. Clarke Public Library

Services: newspapers, fax, copiers, audio tapes, large print books, CDs, cassettes, videos, a print shop, open display classes, story times for 3-5 year-olds, seminars on current important issues and the Internet.

The J.R. Clarke Public Library delivers to shut-ins and care centers once a month. It also provides LTS - Library To School services. Every month the library provides one book for each student in grades second through fifth.

Programs: story hours, summer reading program, craft classes.

 

Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library

Services: cassettes, CDs, videos, large print books, 50 magazine subscriptions, copier machines, and home bound service is offered for those who for any reason cannot come to the library.

Programs: story time for preschoolers, summer reading programs for children.

The Oakes-Beitman Library is a branch of the Troy-Miami County Public Library.

 

Troy-Miami County Public Library

Programs: summer reading club, outreach services to nursing homes and senior citizens, family fairs, story times.

Services: Research library for Troy/Miami County birth, death, marriage records. Local histories and land records. Operated by the Troy-Miami County Library, Troy Historical Society. Historical materials are a combined collection belonging to the Troy Miami County Public Library and the Troy Historical Society. Library loan for these materials is not available.

Services: laminate, copy, fax, typewriters, audio books, videos, CDs, cassettes, subscribes to 130 magazines, access to 1,200 journals though its computer, story time programs are offered for two-year-olds up to fifth grade.

Tipp City also participates in inter-library loans and an outreach service to SpringMeade each week to deliver books that can be requested. The library's newest service is Internet access.

Programs: Story times, holiday programs.

 

 Milton-Union Public Library

Services: CDs, audio books, large print books, pamphlets, microfilm, copiers, typewriters, 2,000 videos, 130 magazine subscriptions, voter registration, inter-library loan program, and offers Internet access.

Programs: active children's program, story hours, puppets, summer carnival, crafts and musical shows.
