BOWLING GREEN — One year after redshirting for the Bowling Green State University baseball team, Zach Kendall is making an impact for the Falcons.
Kendall, a Troy High School graduate, has appeared in seven games and made four starts for Bowling Green, both of which put him among the team leaders. He is 0-1 with a 3.80 earned run average. In 21.1 innings of work, he’s struck out 21 batters, the third-highest total on the team.
Bowling Green currently is hosting the University of Toledo in a three-game weekend series.
ATHENS, Ga. — Schmiedebusch, a Troy High School graduate, is a junior on the University of Georgia track and field team.
Recently at the Georgia Relays, Schmiedebusch was part of the 4×400 relay team that took first place in 3:50.25.
In addition to running on the 4×400 relay team, she also is a hurdler for the Bulldogs.
FAIRBORN — Brumfield, a Tippecanoe High School graduate, is a freshman distance runner for the Wright State University track and field team.
Brumfield opened the outdoor season for the Raiders by placing seventh in the 3,000-meter run (10:28.44) at the Stan Lyons Invitational. Last week at the Yellow Jacket Open, she placed 16th in the 1,500 (5:09.00).
BRISTOL, Tenn. — Helke, a Troy High School graduate, is a senior pitcher on the King University baseball team.
Helke, the team’s closer, has appeared in 12 games for the Tornado, picking up seven saves. He’s 0-1 with a 2.16 earned run average. He’s struck out 19 batters, while giving up seven walks.
The Tornado was 12-21 going into a weekend series with Emmanuel College.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Eichbaum, a Tippecanoe High School graduate, is a sophomore pitcher on the Lee University softball team.
She has appeared in 15 games, including five starts, this season.
She currently is 4-1 with a 4.80 earned run average.
Lee University was 14-21 going into a weekend series with the University of West Alabama.
WILMINGTON — Pierce, a Troy High School graduate, is a freshman on the Wilmington College softball team.
Pierce has appeared in 14 games for the Quakers this season. She’s hitting .200 and has driven in three runs.
Wilmington was 8-8 going into a weekend series with Capital University.
LIMA — Yingst, a Covington High School graduate, is a junior on the University of Northwestern Ohio softball team.
Yingst has appeared in 18 games with 17 starts this season. She is hitting .320 for the Racers with 12 runs batted in, a pair of doubles and a triple.
The Racers were 13-8 heading into a weekend series with Siena Heights University.
