ATHENS — A.J. Ouellette is picking up right where he left off.

Ouellette — a Covington High School graduate and sophomore running back on the Ohio University football team — led the Bobcats in rushing last season. Saturday against Marshall, Ouellette carried the ball 21 times for 77 and a game-clinching touchdown in a 21-10 win over the Thundering Herd.

Late in the fourth quarter with Ohio hanging on to a 14-10 lead, Ouellette took a direct snap from center and bulled his way into the end zone from a yard out to provide the final margin of victory.

With the win, the Bobcats raised their record to 2-0. Ohio University hosts Southeastern Louisiana this Saturday.

Wes Martin

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Martin, a Milton-Union High School graduate at redshirt freshman on the Indiana University football team — got the start for the Hoosiers at left guard in a 36-22 win over Florida International University.

With the win, Indiana improved to 2-0. The Hoosiers host Western Kentucky University this Saturday.

Miles Hibbler

KENT — Hibbler, a Troy High School graduate and sophomore running back on the Kent State University football team, had two carries for five yards in the Golden Flashes’ 45-13 win over Delaware State.

With the win, Kent State improved to 1-1. The Golden Flashes travel to Minnesota this Saturday.

Matt Barr

YOUNGSTOWN — Although he didn’t have his best day in terms of statistics, Barr — a Troy High School graduate and starting quarterback for Robert Morris University — nearly led his team to a shocking upset Saturday.

Robert Morris fell just short, however, falling to Youngstown State — a top 25 Football Championship Series (formerly Division I-AA) team — 21-14 in overtime.

Barr completed 2 of 11 passes for 16 yards, with one interception. He also carried the ball nine times for a loss of 23 yards, in part because he was sacked three times.

With the loss, Robert Morris University fell to 0-2. The Colonials host Notre Dame College this Saturday.

Seth Overla

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Overla, a Troy High School graduate and back-up defensive lineman at Hillsdale College, saw the first playing time of his college career in Hillsdale’s 52-29 win over Lake Erie Saturday.

Overla redshirted last season.

With the win, Hillsdale improved to 1-1. The Chargers travel to Northern Michigan this Saturday.

Christopher Fong

COLUMBUS — Fong, a Troy High School graduate and senior defensive tackle for The Ohio State University football team, was named OSU’s Scout Team Player of the Week for his performance in practice leading up to Ohio State’s 42-24 win over Virginia Tech in the season opener.

Ohio State — the top-ranked team in the nation — defeated Hawaii 38-0 Saturday. The Buckeyes host Northern Illinois University this Saturday.
