TROY — The Troy freshmen football team won their game Saturday afternoon by defeating Springfield 32-8 at Ferguson Field.

After the Trojans had taken a 14-0 lead, the Springfield offense, which was bottled up for most of the game, caught Troy’s defense off-guard and scored on a long trick play, followed by a 2-point conversion, which got the Wildcats to within six points.

But after that the Trojans never looked back and scored 18 unanswered points.

Both the offensive and defensive units controlled the line of scrimmage for much and the game, which allowed the Trojans to control the game.
