TROTWOOD — After a series of quality offensive performances, the Troy girls basketball team couldn’t find a way to put points up at Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division rival Trotwood Wednesday night as the Rams ended the Trojans’ three-game winning streak, 39-28.
Troy (5-7, 2-1 GWOC North) stayed within one point after the first quarter but trailer 18-12 at halftime. Trotwood (5-8, 2-0) used 16 total steals to keep the Trojans from getting a chance to come back, pulling ahead 27-16 after three quarters and holding on from there.
Troy travels to Butler Saturday.
Spr. Shawnee 31
TIPP CITY — Tippecanoe started slow Wednesday night, but a 24-3 second quarter gave the Red Devils all the room they needed to put away a 56-31 victory over Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division foe Springfield Shawnee.
The Devils (10-3, 4-1 CBC Kenton Trail), who won for the fifth time in their last six games, will travel to Kenton Ridge Saturday night for a critical division showdown.
Sidney 52, Piqua 18
SIDNEY — The Yellowjackets shut out Piqua in the first quarter Wednesday night and the Indians (2-11, 0-3 Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division) dropped their sixth of the last seven, 52-18 at unbeaten Sidney (12-0, 2-0 GWOC North).
Piqua hosts Greenville Saturday.
NEW CARLISLE — The Tippecanoe bowling teams fell at Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Division rival Tecumseh Wednesday, with the boys losing 2,770-2,366 and the girls losing 2,052-1,851.
Nick Lanham had a 216 game and Wyatt Wilson a 361 series to lead the boys, with Charles Jaynes adding a 184 game and Eric Staley a 182.
Mary Kate Lee rolled a 191 game and 343 series to lead the girls. Ashlyn Herzog added a 157 game, Jessica Goodson a 146 and Reeghan Brown a 142.
Tippecanoe hosts Bellefontaine Friday.
