SIDNEY — Tippecanoe kicked off the new tennis season with a dominant victory on Friday, shutting out Lehman on the road, 5-0.
At first singles, Kennedy Reeder defeated Sarah Gibson 6-2, 6-4. At second singles, Sophia McDowell defeated Melanie Brunner 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, Jordan Jones defeated Shannon Staley 6-0, 6-0.
At first doubles, Alyssa Stewart and Ladia Coning defeated Alex Reed and Ann Pennaparra 6-0, 6-1. At second doubles, Claire Wint and Monique Jones defeated Kiern Burns and Angela Brunner 6-0, 6-0.
Tippecanoe (1-0) hosts Springboro on Tuesday in a Greater Western Ohio Conference crossover match. Lehman (0-1) travels to Miami Valley Monday.

Closes Week Strong
BROOKVILLE/DAYTON — With three 18-hole invitationals in as many days to close out the season’s first week, the Milton-Union boys golf team only seemed to get stronger as the week went, finishing eighth at the Brookville Invitational on Wednesday and fifth at Northridge’s Ridge Classic on Friday.
At Brookville, the Bulldogs were eighth with a team round of 393. Parker Puthoff — who shot a 75 at Echo Hills the day before and was the runner-up at the Kendig Memorial — led the way with an 87, Hayden Davidson shot 97, Nick Brumbaugh shot 104, Phil Brumbaugh shot 105, Josh Strader shot 110 and Conner Staley shot 129.
And at Northridge, the Bulldogs were fifth with 358. Putthoff shot 83 and was tied for fifth overall, Davidson and Justin Brown both shot 90, Phil Brumbaugh shot 95, Nick Brumbaugh shot 107 and Aaron Brown shot 110.
Milton-Union takes on Newton Wednesday.
