Bridge levy keeps county safe

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Miami County’s special 0.45 mill bridge levy, which will be on the ballot Nov. 3, 2015. The ability of local firefighting teams and emergency services to arrive on the scene in an expedient fashion is of the utmost importance to the residents of the county. Alternate routes around posted or closed bridges can cost valuable time in situations where every minute counts.

Funds from this levy are earmarked solely to provide for the replacement of older, deficient bridges and to maintain or repair bridges and culverts to prolong their useful life. Maintaining a good highway and bridge system enhances that safety and quality of life for all citizens of the county.

As president of the Miami County Fire Chiefs Association, I am encouraging the voters of Miami County to cast a “YES” vote for the special 0.45 mill renewal bridge levy on Nov. 3, 2015.
