Bridge levy important to infrastructure

To the Editor:

I am writing to urge voters to support the Miami County 0.45-mill renewal bridge levy. Having been the Miami County Engineer for 32 years, I realize how important the additional funding that the bridge levy generatese is to maintaining the county’s infrastructure.

Bridge replacements such as the Adams Street Bridge in Troy and the Eldean Road Bridge over the Great Miami River are multi-million dollar structures, and without the bridge levy to provide the local portion to match federal funds, these replacements would not be possible.

It’s a local levy, collected locally, and used for local projects only.

To maintain the continued quality of our infrastructure, vote YES for Miami County’s 0.45-mill renewal bridge levy.
