Golf event helps kids, honors memory

To the Editor:

The Christmas in July Golf Fundraiser in memory of Staci Jo Blythe will take place on Saturday, July 18, at the Stillwater Valley Golf Club, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. All proceeds from this event will be used to celebrate Christmas with needy kids from our area in memory of Staci Jo Blythe.

This is the fifth year for this fundraiser. It is only possible to continue because of the generosity of people and because of its purpose. Being with family, celebrating the birth of Jesus and putting a smile on an unknown child’s face was the highlight of Staci’s Christmas. She continued to “adopt” needy children at Christmas for this purpose even when she was in her physical battle.

Entries and donations must be received by Tuesday, July 14. Hole sponsors are available and very much appreciated with the cost of $50 for each hole. These can be sent to the golf course at 9235 Seibt Road, Versailles, OH 45380, or to Dusty Blythe at 114 E. Franklin St., Troy, OH 45373. Information concerning entry fees and forms in available at Stillwater Valley Golf Club or on their website.

Last year, we helped 171 local children and an unknown number of kids at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, who also receive treatment at the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University. This fundraiser has helped close to 700 children in the past four years.

Please keep this event in your prayers for blessings and success so we can continue what Staci started.
