COLUMBUS — The Division I, II and III state track and field meets kick off this morning at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, and here is an event-by-event breakdown of who to watch from Miami County — and more importantly, when.

Even though the D-III athletes take to the track first, D-II’s field events will kick off the festivities on the day. At 9:30 a.m., Milton-Union’s Wes Martin will compete in the shot put.
At 10 a.m., the Covington Buccaneers take over the proceedings. Jackie Siefring will run the 100 hurdles preliminaries along with Bradford’s Shay LaFollette, and then at 10:10 a.m., Covington’s Ben Miller runs the 110 hurdles. At 10:20 a.m., Siefring will run the 100, and then at 11:20 she will run the 300 hurdles. At 10:55 a.m., Covington’s boys 4x100 team will run, then Lane White will run the 400 at 11:10 a.m. and the 200 at 11:40 a.m., with Miller running the 300 hurdles in between at 11:30 a.m.
At 1 p.m., the D-III field events begin, with Siefring and Troy Christian’s Meredith Haddad competing in the long jump. Then at 4 p.m., Bethel’s Devin Hazely will compete in the long jump, Miami East’s Mack Rose will pole vault and Lehman’s Ben and Brad Montgomery will throw the discus.
The Troy boys will hit the track last for the D-I meet. At 5:40 p.m., Miles Hibbler will run in the 100 prelims, then at 6:05 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., respectively, the Troy girls and boys 4x100 teams will run their preliminary races.
The D-III finals will begin things on Saturday, with anyone that advanced from Friday’s prelims competing. The girls 100 hurdles will be the first event of the day at 9:30 a.m., then the boys 110 hurdles at 9:35 a.m., with the girls 100 following at 9:40 a.m. Troy Christian’s Zac Garver will run the 1,600 at 10:05 a.m., then the boys 4x100 runs at 10:20 a.m. The boys 400 will go at 10:35 a.m., then girls and boys 300 hurdles will run at 10:40 a.m. Miami East’s Marie Ewing will then compete in the 800 finals at 10:55 a.m., then the boys 200 finals will be at 11:20 a.m.
Troy’s Nathan Fleischer will then kick off the D-I field events in the pole vault at noon, and Tippecanoe’s Allison Sinning will run the 3,200 at 2:45 p.m. Troy’s Alex Dalton will throw the discus at 3 p.m., leading right into D-I’s running finals.
The boys 100 finals will be at 4:40 p.m., then the girls and boys 4x100 finals will be at 5:30 p.m. Finally, Troy’s Stephen Jones will compete in the 3,200 at 6:20 p.m.
