MIAMI COUNTY — As if there needed to be more reason to be depressed on “Tax Day.”

Tuesday’s high school athletics in Miami County were all canceled after Monday night’s rains — which turned into snow that actually accumulated overnight in the middle of April. Mixed with the chilly temperatures on Tuesday, there was simply no way games could be played.

Troy baseball and softball’s games at Sidney were postponed and will be made up today. Also, the two team’s home games against Centerville, originally scheduled for Thursday, were bumped to May 1, and Troy baseball will make up an earlier rainout against West Carrollton on Friday at home.

Tippecanoe’s baseball and softball home games against Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division foe Stebbins were also postponed and set to be made up on Friday.

Miami East at Bethel baseball and softball were postponed and will be made up today, with the Cross County Conference matchups taking priority over the non-league games that were originally scheduled and got bumped as a result.

Newton’s baseball and softball home games against Twin Valley South and Bradford’s baseball and softball road games at Franklin Monroe were also postponed, with no makeup dates immediately set. Newton baseball’s game at Xenia Christian on Monday was also rained out.

Troy tennis will have to wait to kick off Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division play, as well, as Tuesday’s match at Greenville was rained out — as was Monday’s match at Springfield. Troy hosts Butler on Thursday. Also rained out was unbeaten Milton-Union’s home match against Franklin, as well as Milton-Union’s track and field quad meet.

Tippecanoe track’s quad meet was also postponed, and it will be made up today.

Bellbrook 3, Tipp 2

BELLBROOK — Already still needing to find opening for two other makeups, the Tippecanoe tennis team did what it could not to create another one, falling to Bellbrook 3-2 in blustery conditions.

“It was 35 degrees out, there was snow on the ground and flakes falling in the air when we started, and the wind was about 10 miles per hour,” Tippecanoe coach Von Clendenen said. “I’d bet we were the only people outside playing today.

At first singles, Michael Keller won 2-6, 7-5 and then 16-14 in a third-set tiebreaker. At second singles, Jacob Belcher won 6-3, 7-6.

At third singles, Joe Keller lost 6-3, 6-2. At first doubles, Phillip Bullard and Michael Gross lost 6-1, 6-2. At second doubles, Eric Staley and Joey Flora lost 6-0, 6-2.
