BRADFORD — School records fell by the bunches for Troy Christian Friday night.
Much like 3-point shots did.
The Eagles hit a school-record 14 3-pointers Friday night against New Miami in the opening round of the Bradford Holiday Tournament — and they did so shooting 50 percent, 14 for 28, from behind the arc — in an 88-35 victory.
Grant Zawadzki hit seven of the 3s — an individual school record — on 7 for 9 attempts. He finished with a game-high 31 points. Aaron Horn added a career-best 13 points, and Dusty Poteet scored a career-high 10 points. Holden Varvel added 10 points.
The Eagles (6-1) also had 27 assists as a team and scored 34 points in the third quarter — both school records.
Troy Christian will play either Riverside or Bradford — whose result was not available at time of press — tonight for the tournament title.
DAYTON — Bethel (7-0) overcame a slow start to remain undefeated Friday night — thanks in large part to a strong defensive effort — in a 69-34 victory over Jefferson in the first round of the Northridge Holiday Tournament.
The Bees led only 8-4 after the first quarter, but they outscored Jefferson 20-7 in the second quarter to take control for good.
Patrick Bain led Bethel with 26 points, Christian Pfledderer added 17 and Christian Hagen scored 14.
Bethel will play Northridge — an 80-50 winner over Dayton Christian — tonight.
