FLC prepares for meeting

TROY — The community is invited to join First Lutheran Church for worship services on Sunday, Nov. 20, celebrating communion in a single service at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Doug Jacobs as guest pastor. The sermon and the worship service will be based on “Christ The King!”

Immediately following the service, will be the annual congregational meeting. All members are encouraged to attend as there are many things to discuss and many decisions to make.

Also at 3 p.m. on Sunday is the traditional gathering for the Hanging of the Greens, to prepare our church for the upcoming Holiday Season and the Birth of the Christ Child.

Mark your calendars for Friday, Dec. 2 — the Polar Express will be making a stop at at 7 p.m. Enjoy hot chocolate and Christmas cookies and perhaps meet some very special guests.

Messy Church planned

TROY — You’re invited! First United Church of Christ, 120 S. Market St., Troy, invites you to “Messy Church” on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 4-6 p.m., a casual and fun way for families to worship God together.

Enjoy some fun and “messy” activities, a short celebration service and a light dinner. Messy Church is for people at all stages of their faith journey and of any age. Don’t miss out on the fun.

Messy Church is held on the third Sunday of every month from 4-6 p.m. Please use Canal Street entrance.

Churches celebrate Thanksgiving

PLEASANT HILL — The Churches of Pleasant Hill invite you to join them for a Thanksgiving celebration. The service will be on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., It will be hosted by the Brethren in Christ Church, 101 W. Hill St.

There will be singing, special music, scripture reading. The Thanksgiving message will be given by Rev. Nick Beam, Pastor of the Church of the Brethren.

We trust you will come celebrate with us.

Turkey supper planned

FLETCHER — The Fletcher United Methodist Church will host their annual Turkey Supper from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The menu includes turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, applesauce, pie, and drinks. A freewill donation will be accepted and carry outs will be available from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The Annual Fletcher UMC Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 8 a.m. All participants are asked to meet at the Coffee Bar inside the Fletcher United Methodist Church. There will be two routes: a 5K route that loops out of town and back, and a shorter route that remains inside the village limits. Dogs are welcome as long as you clean up after them. Coffee, water, and snacks will be provided when you return to the Coffee Bar.

Community Thanksgiving service set

TROY — Troy First United Methodist Church will host the annual Community Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Troy First UMC Chancel Choir will be hosting a Community Choir for the service.

All are welcome to attend. Troy First UMC is located at 110 W. Franklin St. at the corner of West Franklin and South Cherry Streets in Troy.

Experience live nativity walk

COVINGTON — Stillwater Community Church will host the 21st annual live nativity walk on Dec. 2-3.

The walks will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The last walk begins at 8:30 p.m. Walks begin every half hour, five walks per night. Admission is free.

Walk to the home of Mary, follow Mary to Elizabeth’s home and walk into the Joseph’s carpenter shop, travel to the inn and listen as the angels announce the birth of Jesus.

After the walk stay warm by the fire and enjoy some hot chocolate, cookies and fellowship.

SCC is located off St. Rd. 48 between Covington and Pleasant Hill. Turn West off 48 onto Sugar Grove Road.

Share-A-Meal set

TROY — First United Church of Christ’s Share-A-Meal will be on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This program is a way of reaching out to the community by providing warm nourishing meals to anyone wishing to participate, while giving an opportunity to socialize with others. Pork tenderloin, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, pie will be on the menu.

The monthly Share-A-Meal Program is on the first Saturday of every month and is located at 120 S. Market St., the corner of South Market and Canal Streets, Troy. Please use the Canal Street entrance where we are handicapped accessible. Come join us the first Saturday of each month.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser planned

FLETCHER — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned for Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 p.m.

The meal, to be held at the Fletcher United Methodist Church (205 S. Walnut St., Fletcher) is to benefit the Francis family who recently lost their home in a fire.

A freewill donation will be accepted with all proceeds going to the Francis family.
