TROY — The community is invited to join First Lutheran Church for their sermon series: I WILL! This week’s, “Trait of the Outwardly Focused Christian” is, I Will Grow Together With Others. Pastor Ric Barnes will be delivering the message.

Church to award scholarship
CASSTOWN — The members of Lostcreek United Church of Christ are planning the 2016 Dorothy Kirk Scholarship service for 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.
The $1,000 scholarship for 2016 will be awarded to Erin Redick, a graduate of Miami East High School this year. She plans to attend Bowling Green State University and major in music education. Erin is the daughter of Kim and Brian Redick who reside near Fletcher.
Entertainment for the night will be The Cove Springs Praise Group and the Troy First United Methodist Church Handbell Quartet.
The church is handicapped accessible and is located at 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Road, 2 miles east of Miami East Schools.
Organ recital set
TIPP CITY — Guest organist Trent Sims will present the organ dedication recital at Tipp City United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. This recital is open to the public. The program contains works by Bach, Borowski, Dunstable, Howells, Thompson, Widor, and Willan.
The church is located at 8 W. Main St.
A native of Dayton, Sims has had a successful career for more than 20 years as a theater organist. He was also Guest Artist-in-Residence at Dayton’s Victoria and has performed concert engagements across the United States, England and Germany. Sims is the co-worship director of Harmony Creek Church in Kettering.
The mystery of autism explored
TROY — One family’s journey through a child’s diagnosis of autism will be examined at Lifetree Café beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 16.
The program titled “The Mystery of Autism: Understand, Support Connect, features a filmed interview with Patty Smith, a mother whose son Patrick was diagnosed with autism at an early age.
During the program, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their experiences with autism. Those who may have autistic children are invited to come and share their experiences.
Lifetree Café is located inside St John’s United Church of Christ at 130 S. Walnut St., Troy. Use the Canal Street door for entrance to the café and the Walnut Street ramp for the handicapped entrance.

Memorial Day events planned
FLETCHER — This Memorial Day weekend, Fletcher United Methodist Church invites the community to participate in a series of events.
On Friday May 27, the church will host a movie night in the park beginning at 9 p.m. At 9 a.m. Saturday, May 28, the “Caring for Carrie” 5K Run/Walk will kick off. Check-in and registration for that event will start at 8 a.m.
A traditional worship service will be held Sunday, May 29, at 8:15 a.m. with a contemporary worship service to begin at 10:45 a.m. Carnival at the Park will follow from 4-7 p.m.
On Monday, May 30, the church will hold a Memorial Day Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
57th annual Memorial Day luncheon set
CASSTOWN — On Monday, May 30, Casstown United Methodist Church will host their 57th annual Memorial Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A variety of sandwiches, including barbecued pork, shredded chicken, ham and hot dogs will be available, as well as assorted salads and desserts. All items will be sold a la carte.
The building is handicapped accessible and carry-out is available. The church is located at 102 Center St., Casstown, on the corner of Center and Washington Streets.
Registration opens for Vacation Bible School
COVINGTON — Stillwater Community Church is offering Vacation Bible School from 9-11:20 a.m. on June 6-10. This year’s theme is “Bible Times.” Again this year the VBS Bible Story Teacher is Steve Schenk, AWANA Director.
