ENGLEWOOD — Archie Newsom, 71, of Englewood, was called home to God on Oct. 19, 2016. He slipped away peacefully after a short battle with cancer.
Those left to cherish his life: wife, Becky; sister, Arnetta; brother, Kenneth; sons, Archie Jr., Andy (Shawna), Phil (Natasha); daughter, Angie; seven grandchildren: Maegan (Jeff), Bryant, Aaron (Rachael), Ronnie, Alexander, Austin (Stephanie) & Riker; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Mikaela, Logan and baby Nate (soon to be making his debut!). Archie was always using quirky quips of his: A favorite was “I’m finer than frog hair.” Archie worked for Boomerang Trucking, and later, Napa Auto Parts. He had a talent for fixing cars- give him the logistics and he knew what the problem was. His favorite past-time was bowling- he loved to bowl. His favorite bowling team was the year he bowled with his grandchildren. Archie attended Clayton United Methodist Church, where he make several new friendships. All of his family & friends will have precious memories to hold until we meet again! The family appreciates Hospice of Dayton. They were incredible in easing Archie through a beautiful transition into his next journey. Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at the George C. Martin Funeral Home, “Northridge Chapel,” 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Pastor Nathan Pelfrey, officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive friends Saturday 1:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the George C. Martin Funeral Home.
