Restaurant inspections


Restaurant inspections are performed in the county by Miami County Public Health, except in Piqua, which has its own health department. Miami County Public Health can be reached at (937) 573-3500, by email at [email protected] or on the website at www.miamicountyhealth.net. These inspection reports were provided by Miami County Public Health.

May 9

True North Shell, 1789 W. Main St., Troy — Observed no test kit available for measuring the concentration of the sanitizer. To ensure proper sanitization, a test kit or other device that accurately measures the concentration in PPM (mg/L) of sanitizing solutions shall be provided.

May 11

Dollar General, 653 S. Miami St., West Milton — Observed clean and single-use toilet paper and paper towels not properly stored in dispensers in the restrooms. Cleaned equipment and utensils, laundered linens, or single-service and single-use articles are not properly stored. Back storage floor must be resealed or waxed. Also repair any damaged floor area. The physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. Replace ceiling tiles with water damage . If water leaks are present, fix properly. The physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. Back storage walls are damaged.

The Olive Oasis, 7 E. Main St., Troy — No violations at time of inspection.

Winan’s, 3130 N. Co. Rd. 25-A, Troy — No items at time of inspection.

May 12

Dollar General, 136 S. Miami Ave., Bradford — Observed unclean food residual in the bottom of display coolers. Non-food contact surfaces of equipment are dirty. Clean and single-use toilet paper and paper towels are not properly stored in a dispensers in the restrooms. Cleaned equipment and utensils, laundered linens, or single-service and single-use articles are not properly stored.

Randall Residence, 6400 S. Co. Rd. 25-A, Tipp City — Equipment and/or components are not maintained in good working order. Observed the steamer leaking from bottom into a plastic bucket. Observed broken gaskets on salad prep refrigerator. Critical violation: equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are dirty. Observed growth inside ice scoop holder. Observed food debris on the guards of mixer.

Randall Residence Memory Care, 6400 S. Co. Rd. 25-A, Tipp City — Discussed changing kitchen risk level to level 3.

True North Shell, 1015 W. Main St. Tipp City — Observed three compartment sink being used for painting project, Miscellaneous sources of contamination observed. Observed coffee filters and utensils sitting on the floor in a cabinet that was not finished, having no bottom shelf surface. Cleaned equipment and utensils, laundered linens, or single-service and single-use articles are not properly stored. Observed no service sink or curbed cleaning facility as required.

May 13

BP, 1590 W. Main St., Troy — Observed three compartment sink was used as storage and was blocked and cannot be cleaned. The ware-washing equipment and/or components were not cleaned at the required frequency. Observed condensation water dripping in a bucket in walk-in cooler. Observed improper draining of condensation and other non-sewage liquids.

Brewhouse Carryout, 510 S. Wall St., Covington — Critical violation: person-in-charge did not ensure their employees are properly trained in food safety. An employee must always be present that is certified in level 1 food safety during operation hours. There is no test kit available for measuring the concentration of the sanitizer. Observed ware-washing sink with residual coating. The ware-washing equipment and/or components were not cleaned at the required frequency. Observed a residual build-up on floor.

Jumpy’s Fun Zone, 1528 W. Main St. Troy — The freezer is frozen up in the back. Ice is dripping onto boxes of food. Equipment and/or components are not maintained in good working order.

Springcreek Primary School, 145 E. U.S. Rt. 36, Piqua — Food Service in good operation at time of inspection. Went through many of the food code changes and employee training requirements.

May 14

Al’s BP Oil Service, 6 E. Broadway, Covington — Observed storage of cups and lids under pop fountain cabinet drain area. Ceaned equipment and utensils, laundered linens, or single-service and single-use articles are not properly stored. Observed damaged floor surface in food display areas. The physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. Clean inside cabinet areas. Observed unclean areas.
