The name of a cyclist killed in a Saturday morning crash has been identified as Joseph Giampapa, 56, of Dublin.
Deputies and Troy Fire Fire Department medics responded to Troy-Sidney Road at Loy Road at 11:08 a.m. on the report of a crash involving a van and a bicycle.
The rider, Giampapa, was reported to be riding with a group participating in a distance ride. The crash occurred when Giampapa, who was out in front, not part of a pack, was northbound on Troy-Sidney Road, and was struck by a northbound minivan. The van, driven by Thomas Davis, 78, of Fletcher, struck the cyclist, who was thrown approximately 125-150 feet from the point of impact. Giampapa was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
