Friends gathered at a prayer vigil to ask for the safe return of two missing Troy men Tuesday evening.

The vigil was held for Marty Stanford, 19, and Cameron Buerger, 20, outside the Buerger residence on Brittney Lane. Both men have been missing since Saturday after they set off in a canoe and never returned.

“I’ve worked with Cameron for almost a year and knew Marty because he used to come in the store with Cameron sometimes,” said Jamie Howe, who is Cameron Buergers assistant manager at Advance Auto Parts.

Howe said both men are just good people.

“Cameron and Marty are the sweetest kids you will ever meet and both have an contageous personalities,” Howe said.

John Taylor also attended the evening vigil in support of his friends.

“They have been close family friends and have know them for years. It’s so sad to hear something like this happened to them,” said Taylor, a senior at Troy High School.

“The boys were our neighbors and both of them were good friends of my daughter, we just want to support the community in the search,” said Denise Small.
