Troy City Schools seeks renewal levy

TROY — On Monday, the Troy City Schools Board of Education approved a resolution to place a five-year, 5.8 mills renewal levy on the March 15, 2016, ballot.

The levy was last renewed in 2011.

It is the first of two steps to place the renewal levy on the March primary ballot.

The resolution is for certification to be filed at the county auditor’s office for the renewal, said treasurer Jeff Price. The next step will take place at the December regular meeting.

“It is very important that we get it out that it is a renewal levy,” said board president Doug Trostle. “With the assistance with the income tax, we’ve not been in the position to need to go and look for new tax dollars since that (the income tax) approval. We are just asking to allow us the opportunity to maintain the finances we currently have to keep pushing forward.”

All board members approved the renewal levy.

Board member Ginny Beamish was not in attendance on Monday.
