TROY — A feast for the eyes will be on tap as Troy Main Street will host its annual Troy Streets Alive from 5-9 .m. this Friday in downtown Troy.

The event will combine downtown’s evening event called the “Friday Night Shop Hop” where locally owned stores and restaurants will keep their doors open late Friday.

Troy Streets Alive will feature art and artisans displaying their work around downtown. Merchants have planned several street sales and other specials. Musicians will be dotted around downtown to add to the ambiance of a fun Friday event, according to organizers.

As part of the event, Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will host a “Chalk on the Walk” with this year’s theme of “There’s No Place like Home.”

Artists of all levels may begin coloring the town at 3 p.m. and judges for the cash prizes will begin at 8 p.m. A cash prize of $100 will be awarded to one adult entry and $50 for the student category as long as each age category has four participants. Artists will be assigned a 4-foot-by-4-foot square of sidewalk in downtown Troy.

The event is free to the public.
