Gospel quartet performs


TROY — The Homegates Quartet will perform at Troy Freewill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. March 30. The concert is free and open to the public.

Chicken and noodles benefit youth


COVINGTON — The Covington United Church of Christ is having its annual chicken and noodle dinner today. The serving time is 4:30-7 p.m.


The dinner features homemade noodles and chicken, real mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, homemade rolls and assorted desserts. The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Carry-outs are available.


Proceeds from this dinner go to offset the costs of the youth activities and camps.

Pasta dinner offered to community


ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — Cove Spring Church will host its annual community pasta dinner from 5-7 p.m. today at the Elizabeth Township Community Center, 5760 E. Walnut Grove Road.


The meal includes your choice of baked spaghetti or lasagna, bread sticks, salad, drink and dessert. Free will donations are requested.

Play portrays the Last Supper


TROY — St. Patrick Church invites the community to “Twelve Seats at the Table,” a dramatic portrayal of the Last Supper. The play was written by local women Susan Furlong and Marilee Lake. The show will be held at 7 p.m. today.


The play is of the Last Supper set in the Upper Room during the Passover meal celebrated by Jesus and his disciples before His crucifixion. Come hear all the fears, doubts, and devotion they had for Jesus. Attendees will experience the humanness of each of these men in a portrayal that asks: “Is one of the seats at the table for YOU?”

Quilt show accepts entries


WEST MILTON - Hoffman United Methodist Church, 201 S. Main St., is accepting entries for its semiannual Quilt Show that will be held May 2-8.


Application forms may be picked up at the church office, The Hen’s Nest and Really Cool Stuff in West Milton as well as accessed on the church web site at www.HoffmanUMC.org. Deadline to return application forms is April 21.


The public is invited to enjoy refreshments at the opening reception 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 2. Quilt Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3, noon to 3 p.m. May 4, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m May 5. Admission is free.

A definitive guide to ‘Lent Madness’


TROY — Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 60 S. Dorset Road, Troy, invites the public on Wednesday evenings during Lent, beginning 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for Lent Madness. This is a study on “Holy Men/Holy Women,” using the booklet “Saintly Scorecard, The Definitive Guide to Lent Madness, 2014,” published by Forward Movement.


A light supper will be offered following the study, and the evening will conclude with an evening prayer service in the sanctuary.

The controversy and story of Jesus


TROY — First Lutheran Church, 2899 W. Main St., Troy, will hold mid-week Lenten Services on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. through April 9. The five-week one-half hour worship series is entitled “The Controversial Jesus.” The five themes for each week will be Co-Conspirators, God’s Conspiracy, Defiance, Sincere Defiance and Subversive Intentions.


On Sundays, starting tomorrow, they will hold a message series entitled “The Story of Jesus” at both the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services. Experience the story of God’s master plan from Jesus’s birth to the establishment of his church and how attendees’ story interacts with God’s plan today.

Sweet Adelines at Good Shepherd

WEST MILTON — It’s time for a fling with the Sweet Adelines.


All senior citizens in Union Township are invited to Good Shepherd Lutheran’s “Senior Spring Fling” from 2-4 p.m. April 22. The senior ministry at Good Shepherd is hosting the event.


The Infusion Quartet of Sweet Adeline’s International will be our featured entertainment. Food, fellowship, and bingo will complete the afternoon.

Offering grief support


TROY — Grace Baptist Church, 1400 N. Market Street, Troy, is sponsoring a weekly Grief Recovery Support Group (GriefShare) on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. now through May 5.


This is for those who are grieving the death of someone close. The group meets in the church annex building (just north of main building).

Cancer-Companions support group begins


TROY — With the help of a grant from the Troy Foundation, St. Patrick Church will offer a cancer support group, Cancer-Companions, Bringing Hope to the Journey on Thursdays.


The support group will meet at St. Patrick Parish Center, 444 E. Water St., Troy, upstairs in Room 3 on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.


The support group will offer information on cancer resources and individual support from someone that understands.
