TROY — Kathi Roetter won’t have to worry about getting her feet wet as she dives in to her new role as the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce’s executive director of the Troy Strawberry Festival and Leadership Troy.

Roetter, a 2013 graduate of Leadership Troy, will begin her new adventure as exeutive director of the two organziations beginning next week. Roetter was the former aquatics director at the Y Robinson branch in Troy. She takes the place of former director Heather Dorsten who joined the Tipp City Main Street organization last month.

Roetter was the 2014 Troy Strawberry Festival chairwoman during the festival’s first year with a split location using both the downtown area and the levee.

“I’m excited for a new challenge,” Roetter said Monday. “There have been a lot of new changes over the last year. I hope to focus more on the long-term planning part of the festival in this role.”

Roetter also hopes to build a stronger volunteer base and implement a volunteer training program for the Troy Strawberry Festival as part of her work at the chamber.

Roetter said she was most proud of how well the venue change went during last month’s festival. The 2014 Troy Strawberry Festival brought record crowds to both downtown Troy and the levee area.

“In this role, I’ll be making sure to continue to fulfill the needs of all the non-profits for Miami County,” Roetter said.

“We are very pleased that the chair of this year’s Troy Strawberry Festival has agreed to join the staff at the Troy Chamber to serve as the new business manager of the festival and also to coordinate the Leadership Troy Program, “said chamber president J.C. Wallace. “The chamber search committee was unanimous in their support for Mrs. Roetter.”

Planning for the 2015 Strawberry Festival is already under way, Roetter said.

“Troy is a great community and I look forward to showcasing that through the efforts of the Troy Strawberry Festival and Leadership Troy,” she said.

Roetter is a resident of Troy with her husband Eric and two sons, Matthew and Zac.
