TROY — The time to pre-order the book entitled “Transitions of Troy — A Bicentennial Celebration of Troy, Ohio 1900-Present” will soon vanish into the history books.

The book is an 11-inch-by-8.5-inch coffee-table sized landscape edition in a hard cover with a color dust jacket, specially designed for the publication and the final page count will depend on the number of book orders, so it will depend on the support of community members.

More hours than can be counted were spent putting the book together, according to committee members.

“I am so excited this book is coming out and I hope more people in the community will pre-order the bicentennial book because all of our members put a lot of time and effort into this book,” said Judy Deeter, president of the Troy Historical Society.

The committee has four other members besides Deeeter who collaborated on this book.

• Jack Carter, chairman of Troy History Bicentennial Book Committee.

• Nancy Lane-Feldner, photo and graphics editor.

• Mike Robinson, trustee of the Troy Historical Society.

• Barbara Besecker, member of the Troy Historical Society.

The Historical Bicentennial Book Committee used photographs and content from to 1900 to the present in areas such as agriculture, architecture, businesses, churches, disasters, events, family, legend and lore, military, schools, services and utilities and transportation.

“We used photos collected by individuals, businesses in the area and from the Troy Historical Library,” Nancy Lane- Feldner said.

The committee also discussed how so much information about Troy was organized and formatted for the book.

“Information in the book is grouped by decades in a timeline form with blurps and time references,” Jack Carter, president of the committee, said.

The M.T. Publishing Company in Indiana is publishing the bicentennial book for the Troy Bicentennial Book Committee.

“We’re working with M.T. Publishing Company in Evansville, Ind., with whom the Troy Historical Society has worked with before on other historical books about Troy,” Judy Deeter said.

There have been other books published about significant events in Miami County. In 2012, the Troy Historical Society released a book in remembrance of the 1913 Great Flood. A few years back, the Miami County Visitors & Convention Bureau and M.T. Publishing released “Miami County, Ohio: A Pictorial History Celebrating 200 years.”

“Transitions of Troy — A Bicentennial Celebration of Troy, Ohio 1900-Present” currently is available at the discounted pre-publication price of $37.50. in time for Troy’s Bicentennial Celebration Parade. To find out more information, go to Facebook and type in Troy Ohio Bicentennial History Book. There is no exact date for the book to be released, but when it is published the price of the book will go up.
