TROY — A Covington woman was killed at the intersection of Washington Road and State Route 41 after her car was T-boned by a SUV in Troy on Monday afternoon.

According to Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak, the crash reconstruction team has a preliminary report that has determined that a 2004 Buick sedan operated by Melinda S. Flory, 61, of Covington, was traveling north on Washington Road and was in the middle of the intersection when struck by a 2010 Toyota Scion traveling east on State Route 41 and operated by Rachel B. Davis, 25, of Piqua.

Troy Fire Department medics attempted resuscitation of Flory, however she was later pronounced dead at the scene. Davis had no apparent injuries; however she was transported to UVMC by Troy Fire Department medics to be checked.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call Deputy Todd Tennant at (937) 440-6085, Ext. 7009, or the Miami County Communication’s Center at (937) 440-9911.

The crash remains under investigation.

“We are still trying to determine who had the green light,” Duchak said Monday afternoon.
