Two CareFlight helicopters were dispatched from Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, to the scene of single car accident Wednesday just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Houston and Patterson-Halpin roads. A boy is being placed into the first helicopter before it took off for the hospital. A second boy was loaded into the second helicopter. According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the boys — one believed to be 9-years-old and the other 19 — appear to have been ejected from the vehicle. The 9-year-old boy was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital. The teenager was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The driver of the vehicle, Leslie Gough, 44, of Sidney, was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, by Houston Rescue Squad. Assisting at the scene was Sidney Fire Department and Lockington Fire Department. Preliminary reports show that Gough was driving a PT Crusier and was westbound on Houston Road. He approached the intersection of the road and the vehicle went off the right side of the road and started sliding into the ditch. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and overturned. It then slid off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Gough told deputies that another vehicle was southbound on Patterson-Halpin Road and pulled from the stop sign in front of him. The accident remains under investigation.
