Newton Fall Fair deemed success

PLEASANT HILL — The 85th annual Newton Fall Fair was again a huge success for both the Newton FFA and FCCLA chapters. The individual competition winners in the FCCLA Divisions are: Baked Goods – Rilee Owens; Food Preservation – Emily Shellabarger; Home Furnishings – Emmi Fisher; Crafts – Jenna Robbins; and Flowers – Susan Davis. The overall winners placing – first: Linda Mead; second: Skyler Wilson; third: Layla Robbins

The individuals competition winners in FFA Divisions are: Grain: T. Lavy; Vegetable: T. Lavy; Egg: T. Lavy; Shop: Atley King; Hay/Silage: Pete McGlynn; Ag Prom.: Emily Shellabarger and Fruit: Deeter Orchard. The overall winners placing — first: T. Lavy, second: Emily Shellabarger, third: Dave Lacey.

Newton 2015-2016 FCCLA Officers: President – Emily McGlynn; vice president – Lindsey Coffin; secretary – Emily Gross; treasurer – Skyler Wilson; historian – Morgan Robbins and Courtney Lucente; reporter – Courtney Lucente; district representative – Zara Zeller; vice president/STAR events – Will Yoder; and junior high representative, Sean Gaston.

Newton 2015-2016 FFA Officers: President — Atley King; vice president — Emily Shellabarger; secretary – Kristen Rappold; treasurer – Rachel Justice; reporter – Emily McGlynn; sentinel – Windsor Rapp; and student adviser – Nick Hoover.

Mrs. Burnside and Mrs. Helsinger are the advisers.

The evening’s activities included the band performance, Kiddie Tractor Pull and the Class Challenge. The Class Challenge was competition between the freshman, sophomores, junior and senior classes. This year’s events were: Scooter Race, Pass the Apple, Spider Web Untangle and Musical Chairs. The overall winners of the Class Challenge were the Seniors. The “Kiss the Pig” contest was won by; Seniors: Wade Ferrell and Erin Sweitzer and teachers: Mr. Gaal & Mrs. Lawrence.
