MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested Michael Cartonia, 31, of Troy, whom they were actively searching for in the area since last week.
Cartonia has been charged with five counts of fifth degree felony forgery and one count of receiving stolen property. Cartonia is currently incarcerated in the Miami County Jail and is currently awaiting arraignment on the charges.
He allegedly used stolen credit cards at several businesses in the city of Troy. The credit cards had been stolen from a residential burglary on Troy-Urbana Road last week along with several other items.
Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak thanked the public for their assistance during the investigation. The sheriff’s office used social media to help identify Cartonia.
According to the sheriff’s office press release, Cartonia was recently paroled on burglary convictions in March of this year to Ohio from Wisconsin. Detectives are continuing to investigate Cartonia to learn if he may be involved in other property crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Ben Garbig at (937) 440-3965, Ext. 6634.
