Troy native named early childhood directress

TROY — The Miami Montessori School has announced that Sheri Hamant will be returning to the school as early childhood (ages 3-6) directress for the 2016-17 school year.

Hamant has 35 years of experience as an American Montessori Society Certified Early Childhood Directress. For the past eight years, she has directed the parent co-op at the Lancaster Montessori School, which included responsibility for both classroom teaching and administrative duties.

When learning about the opening at Miami Montessori, Hamant said she was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to the Miami Montessori classroom. She described it as “coming home to the wonderful school community” where she previously taught and where her three children attended through their elementary years.

Her deep knowledge of the curriculum and the Montessori philosophy provide the basis for a hands-on, caring classroom environment that offers an inviting experience for young children to develop a strong academic foundation while also gaining a sense of community. As an avid gardener and an adventurous traveler, Hamant said she enjoys sharing her love for botany and geography with her young students.
