Alumni banquet set

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton Alumni Committee will hold its 135th annual Alumni Banquet on Saturday, May 14th.

The banquet will begin promptly at 6 p.m. in the Newton Junior High gym catered. An alumni update and program will immediately follow the dinner. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

Those wanting to attend are asked to make reservations by April 25.

Classes to be honored include 75 years ago (class of 1941), 60 years ago (class of 1956), 50 years ago (class of 1966), and 25 years ago (class of 1991). The theme for this year’s banquet will be “Sesquicentennial Highway.”

History books are still available to purchase. Also, two types of Christmas ornaments will be available to purchase. One has the Indian head logo and the other is a picture of the old school building.

Kindergarten registration set

PLEASANT HILL — Newton Elementary School has set Friday, April 15, beginning at 8:30 a.m. for kindergarten registration and screening in the High School gym for the 2016-2017 school year. Call the elementary office as soon as possible to schedule a screening time for your child. Every child needs to have an appointment to be screened.

Parents should bring the following documents when they come for registration: child’s birth certificate, Social Security number, immunization records and custody papers (if applicable) as well as completed registration and transportation forms.

A child must be 5 years old by Aug. 1 to attend kindergarten this fall. If you have a child or know of a child eligible, contact Newton Elementary at 676-2002. In order to expedite the registration process, the school will be sending out registration packets.

Internship gives Wynkoop experience

FINDLAY — Reid Wynkoop of Troy is an information technology intern for Rowmark LLC in Findlay, for spring 2016.

A senior at the University of Findlay, Wynkoop is working on a degree in computer science and mathematics.
