Carey named trustee president

LOSTCREEK TOWNSHIP — The Lostcreek Township Board of Trustees held an organizational meeting Jan. 7.

Eric Carey was elected president and Richard Walker as vice president. Walter Pemberton is the township fiscal officer.

The regular meetings for Lostcreek Township will be held the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Special meeting notices will be posted at township building in Casstown.

The annual financial report has been completed and is available for review at the township building in Casstown by contacting the fiscal officer.

LEGO contest offered

TROY — WACO Historical Society is sponsoring the Third annual Lego Contest.

Local LEGO enthusiasts are encouraged to present a scene from their favorite Dr. Seuss book. This LEGO contest, “Scenes from Seuss,” is “nonsense to wake up the brain cells” for “fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living,” according to Dr. Seuss.

The winning entries will be decided by judges and on display for public viewing with admission to the WACO Air Museum from Feb. 13 through March 13, during regular business hours.

With each paid admission, a museum guest will get to cast five votes for the People’s Choice Award. Additional votes can be purchased for $1 per vote at the museum gift shop or vote online at

All ages are welcome to enter. For prize recognition, contestants will be broken into two age groups: Ages 10 and under and ages 11 and older.

Submissions must be delivered to WACO between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1.

PIH traveling art on display

TROY — A Partners in Hope traveling art display is now on exhibit at the Troy-Miami County Public Library.

The exhibit will be on display now through the last week of January.

The artwork displays how children and adults feel about poverty in three stages: past, present, and future. It shows their feelings as they go through “Getting Ahead,” a Partners in Hope education program.
