Art show winners named
WEST MILTON — Thirty-five artists participated in the eighth annual Art Show at Hoffman United Methodist Church in West Milton held July 18-20.
Over 200 attendees had the opportunity to vote on their three favorite pieces among the 87 on display.
A number of pieces were sold throughout the show.
During the opening reception on Friday evening the artists participating voted on their top three choices. The results were: Jack Welbaum for “I Will Fight No More;” Regina Whipp for “Four In Hand;” and Sonnie Woodworth for “Hibiscus-Cool Beauty.” Each was awarded $100.
When the People’s Choice Awards from all three days were tallied, the winners were: first place — Jack Welbaum for “I Will Fight No More,” $500; second place — Regina Whipp for “Four In Hand,” $400; and Gloria Honeyman for her Raku Horsehair Pottery, $300.
Honroable mention earned an award of $100 each for: Sonnie Woodworth for “Hibiscus-Cool Beauty;” Joshua Bellas for “Plugged In;” Linda Lock for “Mother and Child;” George Stum for “The Girl;” Nancy Klipstine for “Silver and Crystal.”
Bill Netzley of Netzley Roofing donated the prize money donation of $2,000. Bob Menker of Patterson’s Flowers also donated a variety of plants placed throughout the show as well as Hale Sarver Funeral Home for providing pedestals to display some of the items.
Eco-Splorers program set
TIPP CITY — The Miami County Park District will hold the Eco-Splorers “Knee Deep in Nature” camp Aug. 4-8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City.
Children will discover the wonder of nature through hands-on activities as they explore the diverse habitats of the Preserve.
Registration fee is $25 for children from Miami County and $50 for children from out of the county. Must be registered to participate.
