Officers named; pet food drive ends

TROY — The Troy Key Club has completed its pet food drive to benefit the Miami County Animal Shelter. The youth were able to donate more than a 1,000 pounds of pet food for the shelter.

The Kiwanis Club of Troy also installed new officers for the 2015-1016 club year. Serving as president for the new year will be Jennifer Honeyman; president-elect Erskine Caldwell; vice president Frank Stewart; secretary Penny Hoekstra; treasurer Don Pence; immediate past president Donn Craig; and serving on the board of directors are Matt Erwin, Allan Ganley, Tytus Jacubs, Dave Morris, Linda Rocco, Lee Roth and Dan Synan.

The Kiwanis Club serves the children in Miami County, as well as the children around the world. Kiwanis members volunteer their services, time and money to support many projects for the children, for families and the community. The Troy Kiwanis Club meets every Wednesday at noon at the Troy Country Club. The club always welcomes guests.

YMCA offers adult sports leagues

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA is taking registrations for upcoming corporate basketball and adult soccer leagues.

The corporate basketball league takes place at the Piqua branch on Sunday afternoons beginning December 6. Registration goes through November 22. Corporations for Basketball can enter a full team, or may combine with another corporation. The Adult Soccer League takes place at the Piqua Branch on Sunday Evenings beginning December 6. Academic team headed to regionals

CASSTOWN — The Miami East High School Academic Team has now qualified to go to regionals in the Ohio Academic Competition in April.

They earned this bid by becoming a division champion at the Tippecanoe Academic Challenge on Nov. 7.

In the morning rounds, Miami East defeated Benjamin Logan 145-140, Sidney Christian Academy 330-110, Celina 295-95, Covington 245-190, and Northwestern 370-10. The team includes Nathan Teeters, Kaytee Macy, Sydni Scott, Cameron Godsey, and Seth Teeters.
