Fall cemetery clean-up slated

MONROE TOWNSHIP — The annual fall clean-up for Maple Hill Cemetery and all other Monroe Township cemeteries will take place the weeks of Oct. 19 and 26.

All decorations must be removed by today.

The cemetery staff will begin removing old arrangements Oct. 19-31.

New arrangements may be placed starting Nov. 1.

FFA sponsors coloring contest

CASSTOWN The Agricultural Promotions Committee of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter recently sponsored a coloring contest at Miami East Elementary. Students in kindergarten were given a farm picture to color. FFA members evaluated the pictures and awarded first place to each homeroom. The results are as follows:

Each student participating received a pencil, a farming-related sicker, and candy. The first place picture in each homeroom was awarded a collectable FFA bear. This contest is an annual event.

Members of the Agricultural Promotions Committee involved in the project were Alex Zapakda, Maci Krites, Zach Kowalak, Zach Kronenberger, Jessica Gillum, and Derek Tennant.

YMCA taking sign-ups

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA will be taking registrations for Fall II session classes beginning Monday for members and Oct. 22 for nonmembers. Classes will begin Monday, Oct. 26, and last for seven weeks. This session includes many recreation and fitness options such as swim lessons, group exercise, gymnastics, youth sports and more.

The Y will be taking online registrations at its website To do so, a participant must first register his or her email at the main desk. They can then go online, log in and register for their chosen classes. Registrations will also still be accepted at the desks and over the phone. Fruit sale under way

WEST MILTON — The Milton Union-MVCTC FFA Chapter is holding its second annual fruit sale fundraiser. The Milton Union-MVCTC FFA will sell red delicious apples, golden delicious apples, navel oranges, tangelos, pears, pineapple, grapefruit, mixed fruit bags and peanuts.

The fruit is sold in full and half boxes. Amish cheeses and trail bologna, barbecue sauce, and Jack links beef jerky will also be offered.

Milton Union-MVCTC FFA will be selling the fruit from now through Nov. 15 and delivery will be the first week in December.
