State of the State upcoming

TROY — The State of the State Legislative Update with Senator Bill Beagle and State Representative Steve Huffman will be Sept. 18 at The Concord Room, 845 W. Market St., Troy.

The luncheon is $15 for member and $20 for others, payable in advance or at the door. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will begin at noon.

Safety Saturday planned

TROY — The Troy Lowes store will offer its fourth annual community awareness event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19

Local, state and federal agencies have been invited.

Registrations for adult, youth leagues under way

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA is taking registrations for upcoming adult and youth events.

• The men’s fall basketball league takes place at both the Piqua and Robinson branches on Tuesday evenings beginning Oct. 6. Registration goes through Sept. 20.

• The corporate basketball league takes place on Sunday afternoons at the Piqua branch. Corporations for basketball can enter a full team, or may combine with another corporation. This league begins Nov. 1 with registrations through Oct. 18.

The Miami County YMCA also is taking registrations for upcoming sports leagues for youth at the Piqua and Robinson branches. These leagues begin on the weekend of Oct. 10th or 23 at the Piqua branch and Oct. 23 at the Robinson Branch and run for eight weeks.

• Piqua Branch leagues

Kindergarten boys/girls basketball – Friday evenings

4-5-year-Old boys/girls basketball – Saturday mornings

7-10-year-old boys/girls indoor soccer – Saturday afternoons

• Robinson Branch leagues

First and second grade boys/girls basketball – Friday evenings

Third and fourth grade boys basketball – Saturday mornings

3-4 and 5-6-year-old soccer – Saturday mornings/afternoons

Second through fifth grade foor hockey – Saturday afternoons (begins Nov. 7)
