MONROE TOWNSHIP — Monroe Township Trustees covered various informational issues at their July 18 meeting regarding health and road safety in the township.
The trustees have been made aware of a service provided by the Miami County Public Health Department on complaints about Zika virus and its mosquito hosts. The trustees were notified that the county health department has the ability to set up traps in order to collect mosquitoes in areas of infestation. At no charge and with proper permission, the health department has the ability to set up traps and send the mosquitoes trapped on to the Ohio Department of Health for testing. If area residents have any complaints or questions about mosquito bites or any infestations, contact Jonathan Deeter of Miami County Health at (937) 573-3500.
Also at the meeting, the trustees reviewed concerns with a Miami County Deputy over issues with loud and speeding vehicles in various areas of the township, illegal parking of commercial and recreational vehicles in a township subdivision, and a report on traffic flow changes continually being made at the County Road 25-A construction site. The township office continues to address several tall grass problems in the area also.
The township fiscal officer handled payment of township bills this week totaling $19,647.99, and a typo correction in a resolution passed at the July 5 meeting that he will hand deliver to the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office.
Area meetings and events of interest to township residents include the weekly Tipp City Farmer’s Marketplace from 5-8 p.m. each Thursday at the corner of South Third and East Main streets; Tipp City Senior Citizens 10 a.m. business meeting that is open to the public and held on the second and fourth Thursdays at the center’s current location, 320 S.
