Doggie Paddle Days begin Monday

TIPP CITY — Adventures on the Great Miami is excited to partner with the Humane Society of Greater Dayton to turn its property at 1995 Ross Road, Tipp City, into a 20-acre play land for dogs on select nights!

Doggie Paddle Days will allow your furry friends to swim in the river, play off-leash in designated areas, go for a hike and test out a canoe on the Great Miami River. Mix in dog-related vendors and Adventures on the Great Miami will be the gathering spot for dogs and their human friends. For the adventurous spirits, there will be a downhill slip ‘n’ slide, rope swing and slackline park.

Mark your calendars for Doggie Paddle Days — July 20; Aug. 3 and 24; Sept; 1 and 21; and Oct. 6.

The $8 admission fee per dog will provide access to canoes, kayaks, tubes for use on section of river near property and all facility amenities. A percentage of the admission will benefit the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.

Please review park rules before attending to assure all have a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience: • All dogs and their owners must register upon arrival. • Adventures on the Great Miami personnel reserve the right to remove any dog or human that jeopardizes the safety of other dogs or visitors. • Dogs may be OFF leash in designated areas and while swimming in the river. • Dogs must have required local immunizations • Owners are responsible to clean up any doggy droppings. • Owners must be with dogs at all times • Owners are encouraged to have their dogs spayed or neutered.

Explore the creek at Stillwater

COVINGTON — The Miami County Park District VIPs will hold their “Creekin’ for Critters” program on Aug. 1 from 1-3 p.m. at Stillwater Prairie Reserve Rangeline Access, 7790 N. Rangeline Road in Covington. Come play in the woods and explore the creek. A naturalist will be available to help you discover what tiny animals are living there. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet. Snacks will be served by the VIPs.

There is no charge for the program, but donations will be appreciated.

Rock Piqua! presents last concert

PIQUA — The third and final event in the Rock Piqua! Concert Series will take place from 7-11 p.m. Aug. 1 in Lock Nine Park, 125 E. Water St., Piqua. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

The headliner will be the Orphan, the Poet, with openers The Weekend Classic and You vs Yesterday. Food and beverage vendors also will be on hand.

This event is a collaboration between Mainstreet Piqua, the Piqua Arts Council and Positively Promoting Piqua.
