COVINGTON — A two-vehicle, head-on crash on U.S. Route 36 between Covington and Bradford, claimed the life of one person, sent another to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight and a third to Upper Valley Medical Center.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. when, according to sheriff’s deputies, a white car was westbound on U.S. 36 between Greenville Falls-Clayton and Croft Mill roads, drifted left of center into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound red car head-on.

The passenger in the red car was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was transported aboard CareFlight. The driver of the white car was taken by Covington Rescue Squad.

A crash reconstruction team from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. No further information is yet available. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of family.
