Shoplifters lead police on high-speed chase


Officers seek two white male subjects in tan Ford Taurus

MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies pursued alleged shoplifters in a high speed chase through Troy, the village of Laura and Union Township around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Troy Police Department patrolmen followed the vehicle, a tan Ford Taurus, until sheriff deputies picked up the pursuit on Fenner Road. According to radio traffic, speeds reached up to 90 miles per hour. The vehicle traveled through the village of Laura where it allegedly almost hit another vehicle head-on trying to elude officers.

The pursuit began at the Troy Wal-Mart where two white males allegedly stole two shopping carts full of items and fled through the fire exit and into the vehicle.
