Ashland names honors society

ASHLAND, Ohio — The following students are members of the Honors Society at Ashland University.

Dominique Drake of West Milton, is a member of the Honors Society at Ashland University. Drake is majoring in forensic chemistry. Drake is a 2016 graduate of Troy High School.

Logan Ferrell of Tipp City, is a member of the Honors Society at Ashland University. Ferrell is majoring in biology. Ferrell is a 2016 graduate of Tippecanoe High School.

The Honors Society is a student-run organization that plans a variety of social, educational and service events for Honors Program students, thereby strengthening the learning community by building friendships outside the classroom.

Findlay welcomes new students

FINDLAY, Ohio — The University of Findlay recently welcomed new undergraduate and graduate students to campus for fall 2016. UF’s total enrollment is over 4,000 students.

Local students include:

Treyton Lavy of Pleasant Hill is pursuing a degree in health science.

Madison Mollette of Ludlow Falls is pursuing a degree in health science and health studies.

Kristen Monnin of Piqua is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.

Robert Montgomery of Troy is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.

Brittany Pearson of Tipp City is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.

Anneleise Ritzi of Troy is pursuing a degree in equestrian studies and journalism.

Madelyn Taylor of Troy is pursuing an undecided degree.

Samantha Trame of Conover is pursuing a degree in animal science.

Jessica Weeks of Pleasant Hill is pursuing a degree in health science.

Mackenzie Weldy of Bradford is pursuing a degree in animal science and biology.

Oaks selected for Pearson

NEW YORK — Troy High School Graduate Luke Oaks of Texas A&M was selected out of 800 applicants as an elite member of the Pearson Student Advisory Board (PSAB).

Pearson recently announced the newest members of its PSAB, and Oaks is one out of the 15 board members chosen to play an active role at the world’s largest learning company.

These board members will work directly with Pearson executives and bring a student voice into the conversation about learning tools that affect student success and help shape the education experience.
