Art exhibit to open

PIQUA — The Piqua Public Library and The Friends of the Library are hosting the Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibit from May 2-31 in the second floor art gallery at the library, located at 116 W. High St.

This is the fourth year the library has been chosen to host the traveling exhibit, and each year its popularity grows. The pieces displayed were chosen from many entrants who are members of the Ohio Watercolor Society.

Juror Kathleen Conover said, “Sharing my excitement of watercolor painting is always a pleasure, but viewing this year’s entries was especially exciting because the OWS exhibition is a microcosm of the best of contemporary watercolor in America: skilled, confident and expressive.

“As American watercolor painters, we push the boundaries of our materials. We also explore new ways to visually communicate ideas and concepts as well as generously share new techniques all across the country.”

The gallery doors will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with docents available to answer questions. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
