Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:

March 25

POSSESSION: A deputy made a traffic stop on a Dodge truck for a speeding violation on State Route 55 near Alcony Conover Road. The deputy had the driver exit the truck and stand by a telephone pole while he walked K9 Bear around the vehicle. K9 Bear showed interest in the truck but did not fully alert. The deputy asked for consent to search the driver and his truck which he gave. The deputy did not find anything on him or in the truck so he released him with a warning for the speeding violation.

After the suspect, John McDonald, left the deputy checked by the telephone pole and found a Camel Cigarette pack with two burnt marijuana “joints” and one un-burnt “joint” inside it.

Deputy R. Manns spotted Mr. McDonald entering the East side of Troy on State Route 55 and stopped him. The deputy issued Mr. McDonald a summons for drug possession and released him.

March 27

COMPLAINT: A deputy responded to a burglary complaint at the Stillwater Community Church. The suspect failed to make entry, but left trash in the parking lot containing his name. The church was checked and found nothing disturbed.

March 28

OVI: A deputy stopped the listed vehicle for a moving violation and made contact with the driver who was identified as the defendant Anita Patton. After further investigation, Ms. Patton was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for OVI.

POWER OUT: A worker from DP&L reported that the power was knocked out due to a semi trailer in the area of Rangeline and Falknor Roads. Upon arrival to the area, a deputy talked to the driver of the semi. He advised that he accidentally backed into the pole support wire as he was attempting to turn around to make a delivery at a residence near by. It was requested by DP&L that this matter be documented for future reference if needed.

THEFT: A deputy was dispatched to the Troy address on a fraud complaint. The deputy made contact with the complainant, who stated that someone had used her and her husband’s credit card numbers to purchase items in California and at Meijer in Troy, Ohio.

BURN OUT: While at the intersection of Eldean Rd. at County Road 25A in Concord Township, a deputy observed a silver Ford Ranger do a burn out with his tires while the light turned green. The silver Ford continued east on Eldean Rd. The deputy made contact with the driver, Jarred Maloney. Mr. Maloney immediately apologized and said that was stupid. After checking his license through LEADS, it was discovered Mr. Maloney was under a non-compliance suspension. Mr. Maloney was cited for driving under suspension and had made arrangements to have his truck picked up.

THEFT: A deputy responded to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office in reference a theft in the 1000 block of Normandy lane in Concord Township.
