MIAMI COUNTY — A 20-year-old Tipp City man entered a guilty plea to a bill of information charging him with fourth degree unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Miami County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.
Alexander Sedam entered a plea of guilty as part of a plea agreement with state prosecutors to drop two additional counts of the same charge, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor and corrupting another with drugs.
On Jan. 30, West Milton Police officers on patrol pulled Sedam over during a traffic stop around 2 a.m near Jay and Hayes roads. Officers questioned Sedam and the minor female who was under the age of 14 with whom Sedam later said he had met through Facebook six months earlier. Officers questioned the minor who was found to have multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia and marijuana in her purse. Upon further investigation and after an interview with Sedam, he admitted to having a sexual relationship with the minor.
Miami County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Gee accepted Sedam’s plea. Upon sentencing, Sedam will be classified as a Tier 2 registered sexual offender and must register his address every 180 days for the next 25 years. Judge Gee set Sedam’s bond for $5,000 or 10 percent cash or surety. Sedam must abide by a curfew and was ordered not to have contact with the victim. Sedam’s sentencing was set for May 2.
