MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Tuesday, the Miami County Commissioners approved several agreements and facilities improvements.

The commissioner authorized the replacement of the Safety Building fire system control panel at a cost of $10,216.

The current module, which is more than 15 years old, malfunctioned on Feb. 8. A temporary fix has been made until the panel can be replaced.

As part of the replacement, current fire code standards must be addressed, requiring new floor plans to be made. The total cost of the project includes parts, inspections, and labor.

The commissioners signed an agreement for treatment of juvenile sex offenders. Benton Counseling and Consulting Services will provide outpatient treatment to court referred juveniles and their families at a cost of $300 for each group therapy session. The total cost is not to exceed $15,000.

The board also appointed Brian Green, superintendent of Riverside Developmental Disabilities, to the Child Abuse and Neglect Regional Prevention Council.

As part of the state’s changes to the Ohio Children Trust Fund (OCTF), each board of county commissioners may appoint up to two members to represent the county. A recent state budget bill changed the county’-by-county delivery system for the OCTF to a regional model.

The commissioners also approved an agreement between the Miami County Ohio Means Jobs Center and the St. Mary Development Corporation to provide job training to the senior residents of the Carriage Trails Senior Village in Huber Heights.

The St. Mary Development Corporation aims to be a general partner of Carriage Trails. Ohio Means Jobs will provide job placement and readiness assistance to job seekers living in the complex.

The agreement takes effect in August 2017, when the apartment complex opens.

The commissioners also authorized the replacement of the tile floors and walls in the administrative staff restroom at West Central Juvenile Rehabilitation facility. The improvements will be made by Craft Interiors at a cost not to exceed $9,259.
