TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center’s Holiday Concert has been a long-time family tradition in Troy for more than 20 years. The house is decked in holiday décor thanks to 13 local decorators. Each room in the Edwardian mansion is gifted with a holiday theme carried out by a unique team of decorators. The cozy atmosphere is accentuated by homemade punch and cookies.
The 2015 Holiday Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, with the Oakwood Brass ensemble. Founded in 2001 by Eric Knorr, members include Eric Knorr on trumpet, Daniel Zehringer on trumpet, Jonas Thoms on French horn, Alan Keller on trombone and Tom Luckowicz on Tuba. These musicians perform regularly with the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Springfield and Lima Symphonies. Oakwood Brass members are also on faculty at Wright State University, the University of Dayton, Central State University and Sinclair Community College.
Oakwood Brass is a two-time featured artist for the Bach Society of Dayton and has also performed as featured artist for the Dayton based classical music station WDPR-88.1 FM. They are enthusiasts of church based concerts such as the “Celebration of Sound” concert series held at Worthington Presbyterian Church in Columbus, and the “Sanctuary Series” held at High Street UMC in Springfield, and the rich music programs at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Dayton where they hold a residency.
