PIQUA — Two arrests have been made in connection with the disturbance that resulted in a shooting in the Shawnee neighborhood on Saturday.
On Saturday, Piqua police were called to 628 Second St. just after 9:30 p.m. on the report of a subject threatening to shoot someone.
“Two suspects entered the home,” said Lt. Jason Preston. “At some point, one of them pulled a gun.” A 16-year-old male, a resident in the home, reportedly reached for the gun. It then discharged, hitting the young man in the hand.
Upon officer arrival, subjects were fleeing the area and the 16-year-old was located. He was treated and released from the Upper Valley Medical Center. A .38 caliber revolver was recovered at the scene.
James W. Turner, 40, of Troy, was arrested Sunday for first-degree felony aggravated burglary and second-degree felonious assault. He is currently incarcerated at the Miami County Jail on a total of $150,000 bond. The following day, detectives arrested Angel E. Boyer, 36, of 628 Second St., Piqua.
Boyer also is incarcerated at the Miami County Jail on a total of $12,500 bond. She has been charged with fifth-degree felony permitting drug abuse, second-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business, third-degree felony tampering with evidence, and fourth-degree felony corrupting another with drugs.
“I appreciate the dogged determination of the officers of this department as they work to resolve this case based on truth and facts,” Piqua Chief of Police Bruce Jamison said. “Anyone who thinks that lies and misdirection will just make us go away should be thinking twice this evening.”
According to the Piqua Police Department, this “is a complicated investigation involving multiple people and multiple criminal violations occurring in the course of the incident. Patrol officers and detectives were involved at the scene and with interviews Saturday night.”
The investigation is still ongoing. Additional tips are welcome, with information available at bit.ly/PPDtips.
